When I create a system repair disk,once click create button and error came out

original title: the parameter is incorrect ( 0x80070057)

Hi lew9789,

·         Which method did you follow to create the recovery disc?

i.           Boot the system by inserting Windows 7 installation disc.

ii.         When it gets to the main setup window, click on Repair from the lower left corner.

iii.       Select Command Prompt from the main Repair menu. 

iv.        At the command prompt type in recdisc, then ENTER.

v.          You'll get the popup to choose which drive letter to create the Recovery disc to.

vi.        Have a clean DVD in the DVD drive and select start.

This should get your System repair disc created.

    Unable to create a system repair disc 0x80070057

    Hey MICROSOFT- I have 7 computers in my home office with seven different MS licenses- ONLY TWO of the non-branded Win-7 64 bit computers that I built have this inability to create a repair disc.  I know that Steve Jobs died, but there has to be somebody as smart as him out there that can cure this issue without a total time wasting re-installation of the system image.

    Your new HP should have come with software included called HP Advisor.  Hopefully, you did not delete or uninstall it, but even if you did you can download it from HP's website.

    Running HP Advisor you are given a menu option called PC Dashboard.  Selecting PC Dashboard will open a window in which you can select the option, Backup and Recovery.  There, you should find the Recovery Media Creation utility (which can be used only once to create a set of disks that will restore your computer to the factory state).  Once used, this option will disappear from the menu (although you can still find (and run) the application, CDCreator, in the Hewlett-Packard\Recovery folder.

    Once you complete a set of recovery disks, then try using the Windows 7 utility, Create a system repair disc, found by going to Control Panel>System and Security>Backup and Restore.

    I've done EVERYTHING recommended EVERYWHERE, including the sfc /scannow ... nada.  nothing.  nyet!  Grrrr! 

    Then, I read your recommendation and fetl some hope until I did a search for that utility on my HP, and apparently, I do not have it.  Not titled like that anyway!  Sigh. 

    What is the deal wth HP and Microsoft?  NEITHER have solutions at their sites and its GOT to be somewhere between the two of them ... there are literally hundreds of thousands queries about this error code online!  And a few dozen different ways to "repair" it but still ... it keeps coming back at me every time I try to make a repair disk. 

    I have a complete system image on an external HD and you know ... that's going to have to be good enough.  In fact, I think its more than enough!  I just wanted a quickie boot disk, more than anything but ... oh well.  This is probably better in the long run anyway, IF I can get it all on the drive.  Instead of 'going commando' it appears I have to go in full dress uniform!

    Thank goodness for inexpensive Iomega external hard drives!  :-)

    If you are having trouble creating system restore disks (error: 0x80070057) on an HP computer using the Windows 7 utility, consider that HP may have hijacked the utility (rendering it not functional).  You may have to use the HP Recovery Media Creation utility that came with your new computer.

    It is likely that running "sfc /scannow" from the command prompt will result in no corrupt files found, and therefore attempting to "repair" the installation will be pointless. 

    The HP Recovery Media Creation is actually a CyberLink utility and I believe that as long as it is installed on the computer, the "create a system repair disc" utility that comes with Windows 7 will not work.  Try the HP utility as it seems to work.
