Windows Media Player shows the incorrect album information.

Old title: Windows Media Player giving wrong info....

I try to rip my music CDs to Windows Media Player but my recent new albums it gives me the wrong album info why is this? any clues.

It's possible that WMP incorrectly identifies a CD as another album. To fix this, look up the album info manually: right-click one of the tracks, select Find album info , search for the correct album, and follow the remaining steps of the wizard.

If you go to the All Music Guide database (which is used by WMP), and the information there is incorrect as well, you should be able to correct it there.

Also, if you make corrections through Find Album Info, that information might be used to correct the database in the future.

    I am going NUTS re-entering the correct information in Properties, and it keps changing it again! I have tried creating new folders to reorganize the songs and correcting the errors. I DESIGNATE ONE SPECIFIC FOLDER, and it STILL returns to the flicked up ERRORS all over again, and raids OTHER folders! I am trying to save in ALL formats ( WMA for maximum file size information for best copies, and wav because it was the format). 

    Microsoft AND Apple ( though iTunes does retain information) for RUINING music with so many file formats!

    Analog was ONE format used by MULTIPLE media, and Media Player is the BIGGEST PAIN in the <removed>!!!!

    Did you try this? If so, did it work?

    After you've taken the time to add media information to your files, it's a good idea to verify that it won't be overwritten by the Player later.

    1. Click the Start button , click All Programs, and then click Windows Media Player. If the Player is currently open and you’re in Now Playing mode, click the Switch to Library button in the upper-right corner of the Player.
    2. In the Player Library, click Organize, click Options, and then click the Library tab.
    3. In the Automatic media information updates for files area, verify that the Only add missing information option is selected (it's selected by default). This will prevent the Player from inadvertently overwriting the correct media information you've added with incorrect media information that might be available in the online database.

    The problem I have with manually updating information is that it retains the album art, and even the incorrect number of tracks!  The CD I put in is called Search & Destroy, and has 15 tracks by various artists.  WMP has decided that it's Search and Destroy by Iggy and the Stooges, which has 14 tracks.  So I'm manually entering the information, and it's only giving me 14 tracks to edit.  Surely the program is well-made enough to know my CD has 15!
