How do I disable Windows 7 Magnifier all together? It have the check box unchecked for starting at startup but my mouse button still starts it. I use to use that button for something else and Windows will not let me map it to the other application.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi wil2liv,

Thank you for using the Answers forum,

Give this a try:

Click on the Start button

All Programs

Accessories

Ease of Access Center

Then click on 'Make the computer easier to use' near the bottom.

Then unchecked 'Turn On Magnifier'. Hit OK and you're done.

This does not work for me. The magnifier box is NOT checked to begin with. Nor did it work to go into the control panel and try to turn it off. The only thing it does it give me three options for how I want it to work when magnifying. There is not shut off for this stupid thing! Any other ideas would be sooo greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is it pinch zoom that also causes the desktop icons to be rearranged when the magnifier window is closed?  This is truly annoying.

Bless you, psnative. I would seriously give you a cake of your choice.

Dear World, DOH!! It's not Magnifier that is driving you insane. **It's "pinch zoom",**as psnative explained.

Here's how I got rid of it in Windows 7:

    Control Panel

    > Mouse

    > Device Settings (has Red logo on tab)

    > Scroll down and highlight Synaptics Luxpad V 1.3

    > click on Settings button below the window

    > New window "Properties for Synaptics Luxpad V 1.3 on SMB Port" appears;

the first box is "MultiFinger Gestures"

    > uncheck "MultiFinger Gestures"

    > or just uncheck "pinch zoom".

    > Apply > OK > OK

    Free again!!

Wouldn't it be much easier for the user world if the "disabling check box" be placed on the small magnifying window that appears on the screen?  Burying items like this through several levels of folders and with no manual for the OS makes it very difficult to find solutions like this.  Without the Internet it is very difficult to find solutions like this.
