How do I disable Windows 7 Magnifier all together? It have the check box unchecked for starting at startup but my mouse button still starts it. I use to use that button for something else and Windows will not let me map it to the other application.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi wil2liv,

Thank you for using the Answers forum,

Give this a try:

Click on the Start button

All Programs

Accessories

Ease of Access Center

Then click on 'Make the computer easier to use' near the bottom.

Then unchecked 'Turn On Magnifier'. Hit OK and you're done.

Let us know if this helps,

Kevin

THAT does NOT work - check out what mouse scheme you are using...

Kevin - there are two more steps omitted in your reply.

    1. When in Accessories under All Programs, it is first necessary to click on Ease of Access before the Ease of Access CENTER comes into view;
    2. Then near the bottom of that screen, click on make the computer easier to see that is where the Magnifier can be checked or unchecked.

Then be sure to click OK at bottom...

I have done this a couple, if not three times and yet my mouse still randomly changes to a cross or other symbol and either scrolls the page or invokes the magnifier which seems to randomly change sizing of text or graphics in the document on screen as I move the mouse trying to get out of magnifier mode. A magnifier symbol appears on the address bar right side which then must be clicked to access a pop-up to return to the default value.

So much for the advised procedure, it does not work from where I sit. i am absolutely frustrated by this and wonder whether the Aero or other theme is at fault. I am using the inverted cursor theme and still having problems.

    Back to you Kevin...

Most of the answers I have read are wrong. This is a gestures feature that has annoyed the **** out of me. Open mouse properties click on gestures and then there are 4 check boxes at the bottom. You then want to deselect the 'Use Zoom Function'. PROBLEM SOLVED
