Windows 7 Media player will not play back BluRay disc's

The best and cheapest solution is to go buy a stand alone Blu-Ray player and forget running that format on your Windows OS PC. The 3rd party licensed software providers will also try to rip you off by not allowing you to use all of the Dolby functions as well with their basic packages.

I came across this thread you people started in 2009 and we are now in 2013.

I as well am trying to sort out my BlueRay issue with the Windows Media Player on WIN7 PRO. This thread has been going on for 4 years now and it sadly seems that Microsoft has done absolutely nothing about it. Am I wrong?

  

Motherboards, GPUs, CPUs, PC Monitors and most PC hardware are nowdays built to support FULL HD and BLUERAY play back...... and don't forget that the 3D BlueRay is out now....everything is advancing and Microsoft is going into a hibernating mode....Microsoft, WAAAKE UUUP!!! We need your support and dedication on this.

Windows Media Player is more than capable of playing Blueray DVDs and the solution is simple: Microsoft needs to wake up, get a grip and release an update for the Media Player to support Blueray Playback on WIN7 and all their other WIN operating systems products instead of recommending a 3rd party software that could potentially cause problems. They are simply being Hypocrites and ignoring the fact that more people need support with the Blueray playback software on their PCs and we need it NOW!!! after all it would be an improvement with a positive impact to their products that millions of people have bought in good faith, instead of wasting more money on a 3rd party software, since Microsoft OS (Operating System) Software doesn`t exactly  come cheap anyway....

 

Instead of improving WIN7 to its full potential in such a short time line after the release of WIN7, they go and release WIN8 that regretfully I have purchased and found it to be yet another WIN VISTA repeating itself with all the incompatibility errors and system crashes, waste of money (WIN8 is totally unstable, rubbish by the way, I have now uninstalled WIN8 and reinstalled WIN7 PRO)

 

Also AMD,ATI and NVIDIA support HD and BlueRay with their GPU products, Why don`t Microsoft step up to it and sort this out?

 

Any of you found the solution to solve the BlueRay playback problem with the Media Player other than buying a 3rd party software?

 

my system:

CASE Coolermaster HAF 922, Asus P7P55D PREMIUM ATX motherboard, Quad core I7 860, memory 8GB 1333 > 1800 DDR3 dual channel, GPU Asus GTX660 Factory Oveclocked, HD OCZ AGILITY 120GB SSD, LG BLUERAY DVD RW + 2X SONY DVDRW, CREATIVE Sound Blaster Z, OS WIN7 PRO 64-bit, AKASA PSU 1000W.

Further to my experience, research comments and replay to this thread I have now resolved the Issue with my Blueray DVD RW Player. I decided to have another look into the box my LG Blueray player came with as it was a double boxed and to my surprise I found the CD with the drivers that contained the CYBERLINK POWER DVD 10 PLAYER software.

After installing the full suite of the provided software by LG I can now use my Blueray Player. Syberlink PowerDVD 10 Player came as part of the LG driver suite together with another ton of amazing features. I am truly amazed, it works perfectly and in FULL screen size. See above for my system specs.

The issue with windows media player still remains though, media player does NOT play the Blueray DVD`s 

So, if you are in the same boat as me then you will need to find the drivers for your device from the drivers CD that came with it or Download the driver suite from the manufacturers website for the Blueray Device you have. PowerDVD 10 works perfectly for me with WINDOWS 7 PRO.

 I am glad that LG has put the effort to include the POWERDVD 10 software with the BlueRay player AS IF IT WAS LEFT INTO Microsoft`s HANDS WE WOULD BE IN THE DARK FOR CENTURIES TO COME.

I hope this will help anyone that is looking for the solution the problem.

Roxio Has released a new BD player stand-alone application. Works with : Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP. This BD player does not integrate with Media Center, nor the Windows Media Player 12.

As for the Windows Media Player 12, the program is useless anyway, does not play simple single mpeg video files. The WMP 12 stops responding and freezes forcing you to close the wmp program. This also happens to wmv, avi video files, even will not play retail DVD movies. I had to pay hundreds dollars more to get a video player that will play these video files....If there was a way to uninstall the WMP 12, I would.
