Original Title: I have Microsoft Windows 7 though the windows installer is not working correctly. How can I install the windows installer 5.0 or ensure it is working?

  1. What is the issue with Windows Installer?
  2. Do you have any issues installing any program?
  3. Do you get any error message related to Windows Installer?

We cannot install Windows Installer 5.0 as it is the default version in Windows 7. If you can provide us more details about the issue, then we can assist you better.

If Windows Installer is malfunctioning, then try to Unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

a. Click Start, type cmd, right click cmd and click run as administrator.

b. On the command prompt, type "msiexec /unreg" and then press ENTER.

c. On the command prompt, type "msiexec /regserver" and then press ENTER.

d. Check the difference.

    I have consistently had trouble downloading certain MSE Important updates.

    NONE of your fixes has worked.

    Today, my system crashed during the Manning interview post game and I keep getting messages that my Microsoft Installer is not working and that now, many of my programs are also not working.

    I tried the above "fix", but I got NOTHING.  Nothing after I entered step b and again Nothing after I entered the command for step c.  If I got Nothing, how can I possibly Compare the difference?

    There IS NOTHING!

    I had the same problem with my desktop. I fixed it by updating Microsoft frame network and reinstalling the software not updating it. Hope this helps someone.
