Microphone delay when recording in Windows 7

Hey, Everyone.

I am glad to see everyone jumping in there to try to help today.  Thanks to everyone. 

In answer to Chris's comment, I did not have this problem with my previous XP that I got rid of about 2 months ago (it was old).  The volume comes up really well on this sound mechanism, but it just sounds like it is being played from the bottom of a very large barrel and there is a decided echo going on.  I keep trying to ignore it, but it is really annoying.  Now if I get a video from someone and play it through my email, it sounds just fine.  Strange, huh?  Have a good day everyone.

No, I meant not to use the asio with the microphone, since the realtek trick will give a latency free mic... and, in spite of use the microphone as the input device, use the stereomixer...

But now a problem comes to my mind... stereomixer will reverb the sound of karaoke to the input...

...I don't know what could happens. Mainly because I don't know how the karaoke softwares works. Sorry

I got a fix here... the ASIO driver

but... it needed a specific configuration to run without delay...

Of course, you'll need a program that supports the use of ASIO driver: in my case Guitar Rig 4 or VSThost(free).

Look at your program if something like those configurations is available.

for those who want to use some karaoke programs, just set the recording device to Stereo Mixer after doing the trick of Realtek audio manager

These things are like a sollution to me. I'm running the programs with no delay (in spite of Guitar rig calculates 20ms delay, but I can't notice that, it's too small).

The secret is the Sampling Rate... try to set it to something higher than 48000hz

Is there a particular software you are talking about to use with karaoke, or do you mean to use Guitar Rig 4 as a Karaoke tool for the microphone? And also, you say to set the recording device to Stereo Mixer, but I do not understand this, because isn't the microphone from the line in/microphone jack. Stereo Mixer is a different thing is it not? Or?

THE PROBLEM IS: If I use lets say Ableton Live to get latency free Microphone, I can not open any Karaoke songs in lets say WINAMP or WMP, or VLC, because the ASIO4All have "taken over" the whole sound-system. How did you play Karaoke-songs together with the microphone?
