Can you help trouble shoot Sharper Image Internet Weather Station EC-WS115?

I got this as a gift. It came without a software disk. After emailing customer support I got a link to the the following software:

I downloaded this software.  It brings up the software images on my screen ... I can enter my home location in the software ... but the software never connects to the internet ... so I star all over again.  The installation and troubleshooting guide for this software can be found at:

This gadget is supposedly compatible with Windows 7.  I am running Windows 7 Pro on my HP Computer.

    Thanks teameaves!!!!

    I was almost ready to send my unit back to Buy.com, when I saw your thread about AVG - this software just blocks writing to HD without even notifying the user!!! I am so mad right now, but at least I got my software to work and update.

    Anyone looking for a copy of software - send me an e-mail to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** and I will reply with the installation file.

    I have just made a tweak to mine.  I was tired of having the system update every 12 hours.  I made a 'bat' file with a simple script that kills the process and starts it again.  Then use windows built in task scheduler to start the process.  I have it running every hour.

    Here is my bat file script:

    taskkill /t /im "5-day forecast.exe"

    ping localhost

    ping localhost

    START "5-Day Forecast" "C:\Program Files\5-Day Forecast\5-Day Forecast\5-day forecast.exe"

    This is possibly just an issue of patience...!

    After reading through every response (and trying each proposed solution), the unit still didn't work.  I figured I'd just let it be and see what happens.  After about 10 minutes, the time displayed on the main unit (even those the program running on my computer shows no data at all).  A few minutes after that, it displayed "today" in the upper left of the screen.

    I noticed that the top of the screen shows "update 2/10" -- it's been running for at least 30 minutes now.  I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and hope that it will run through all of the updates to completion.  Will post back with a final review.
