default gateway not available in windows 7

G'day,

While Windows 7 works and looks good, there is one major issue which threatens to derail the entire experience for me.

Several times a day, the default gateway becomes unavailable, which means that the PC running Windows 7 loses internet connectivity. At the same time, other PCs, running Vista, are continuing to work normally. This includes one PC with a WiFi connection and another which is normally wired.

The details of my network controllers (there are two) are as follows.

The problem is solved by manually having to repair the problem when Windows 7 finds that the default gateway is not avaialble and resets network controller 2.

I have seen that this is not an isolated  with several reports on the net, some suggesting that a different driver might help, but which one? Any suggestions?

It's one of many known nVidia issues with Windows 7 that nVidia must correct, unfortuniately Microsoft has nothing to do with it. I would sugguest that you contact nVidia for assistance.

    The fix provided from it burns also resolved my issue. Since i installed the Windows Vista 64bit (v.15.25) Ethernet drivers have not had an issue since. Seems like a Windows 7 FAIL.

    I'm also having serious problems with this.  I have tried every single solution out there.  When I had RC 7100 my internet was fine, but now that I have the retail version I can't get online for more than a few minutes.

    I've spent about 10 hours in the last 48 trying to fix this.. and after reformatting there's a lot of other things I need to be doing.

    Found the solution.  It was driving me nuts too and didnt want to reinstall windows.

    You have to install the nforce vista drivers for the windows 7.

    Right click on My Computer and select Manage

    Click on Device Manager in the left hand pane

    Expand Network Adapters

    Right click on the first network card and select Update Driver

    Select the 2nd option which says something like "Browse my computer"

    Then select the 2nd option in the window that pops up that says "Let me pick from a list of device drivers"

    Click the "Have Disk" button

    Browse to the folder where you have the drivers extracted and the 15.25 drivers should show up.

    Follow along and they'll be installed. I think you'll have to do it for the 2nd card if u have one but I'm not sure.

    Folder should be called something like C:\NVIDIA\nForceWinVista64Int\15.25[Ethernet](http://www.sevenforums.com/#)

    In terms of the drivers, Just get them from nvidia's website or search google for nforce 15.25 ethernet. Hope this helps.

    I have the same problem, but my internet connection worked fine for several months, until one system update, or I just think it is then when first time happened.

    So, I installed nvidia ethernet driver for my motherboard (gigabyte 570sli) and it is working for now. Old driver was from microsoft. I don't want to mess with other system settings, things may become just worse.
