While Windows 7 works and looks good, there is one major issue which threatens to derail the entire experience for me.
Several times a day, the default gateway becomes unavailable, which means that the PC running Windows 7 loses internet connectivity. At the same time, other PCs, running Vista, are continuing to work normally. This includes one PC with a WiFi connection and another which is normally wired.

The problem is solved by manually having to repair the problem when Windows 7 finds that the default gateway is not avaialble and resets network controller 2.
I have seen that this is not an isolated with several reports on the net, some suggesting that a different driver might help, but which one? Any suggestions?

It's one of many known nVidia issues with Windows 7 that nVidia must correct, unfortuniately Microsoft has nothing to do with it. I would sugguest that you contact nVidia for assistance.

Ok this is getting ridiculous I have tried every solution and none of them work I just completed a fresh reinstall and that worked for a day. I cant even go on multiple websites without loosing the internet. It is getting to the point where I have to reset it 10 times a day. If anyone has any other ideas please post them because as of right now nothing works.
Unforturnately this did not fix the problem. In fact, as a side note, one of the choices in the Links Spped and Duplex drop down list is for the quantity 1.0 Gps, which I tried and it killed my local connection access. I had to do a system restore to access my network settings again. A red X appeared over the network icon in the system tray and I could not figure out a way around it. There may be another way to do it, but not one that I am aware of.
So I've changed the power management and the Link Speed and Duplex to 100 Mbps and it is still dropping the connection, requiring the fix of the default gateway. Any other suggestions for my setup?

For me it's listed under "MediaType" and the options are:
- 100Mbps Half Duplex
I'll change it to "100Mbps Full Duplex" if it happens again, but at the moment it appears to have either fixed itself or something I've done has fixed it.
As I understand from researching a little, it's referring to the speed of which the Ethernet cable can transmit data. Reading the writing on my Ethernet cable it says "VERIFIED FOR GIGABIT ETHERNET", which as I understand is 1000Mbps Full Duplex, so by limiting it to 100Mbps it may cause problems, I'm not sure.
Yes, you do. :) It's about halfway down and says "LINK Speed & Duplex" I have to assume that is basically the same thing. I haven't seen any issues by turning to the setting I said earlier (but don't yell at me if this turns off your clock or something.....hahaha!).
I'd try that and see what happens.
I have been on the internet and downloading and uploading stuff all day with no issues at all. Not a single disconnect!!!
Microsoft should hire me! hahahhahaha!
Really hope it works for you Roxylee. I will check back again, so let me know if it doesn't work. There are 2 or 3 other things I have stumbled across to fix it too, but since this worked, I didn't mess with the others.
