Hello,

I just entered a CD into my disc drive and noticed nothing was happening. So I went to manually click on the disc drive itself, and saw that it was completely gone. When going through the troubleshooting process in Windows 7, this note came up:

A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32).

Obviously I need to re-enable this service, but I am clueless as to which one or how to do so. Any help would be appreciated!

Try the following MS KB article:

Try following the steps for Windows Vista which should also work for Windows 7.

I have the same error code on my two cd drives. I'm using windows 7. I've run through the troubleshooter. It finds the problem but doesn't fix it. Is there a direct registry fix for this in wondows 7?
