In every application on my computer, my cursor jumps around while typing. I can not type fast because I have toconstantly bring the cursor back to where I am typing (just did it again right now). Something is wrong and needs to be fixed. I am not technical and have no idea how to fix or what forum this question belongs in. Please advise.

To all who have been having 'cursor jumps around while typing' problem.  I had the same problem and had my Sony VAIO support team help me with it.  They put in a fix that worked.  Microsoft.  It would be beneficial if you could contact Sony regarding this problem and access to the solution they put in place for me, since they seem to have found a solution to the problem.

I have a Sony vaio.  They gave me a patch.  Unfortunately I don't know what they fixed..  some people have had success turning off the touch pad and some have uninstalled the driver and then reinstalled the drivers.  I personally think that it is a virus that Microsoft has yet to acknowledge and apply a fix.  Good luck.

    Hi Bob

Yes, I fixed it around mid year.  I recall that  I posted what I did to fix it?

It turned out to be a quick and easy fix, involving removing the old the touchpad/pointer driver and installing a replacement from the microsoft website.  Help was provided in identifying the fix by Bryan Armstrong of Nexgen computers (Ellesmere, Shropshire UK- who did an OS reload for me just previously).  Unfortunately our interaction was over the phone so I don't have an email trail containing his advice.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers, Martin

No.  I have to be extra careful only to touch the right keys when  typing.

We reinstalled the mouse and touchpad drivers as suggested- no luck. Finally, we disabled the touch screen, and voila'- no more jumping cursor!
