In every application on my computer, my cursor jumps around while typing. I can not type fast because I have toconstantly bring the cursor back to where I am typing (just did it again right now). Something is wrong and needs to be fixed. I am not technical and have no idea how to fix or what forum this question belongs in. Please advise.

To all who have been having 'cursor jumps around while typing' problem.  I had the same problem and had my Sony VAIO support team help me with it.  They put in a fix that worked.  Microsoft.  It would be beneficial if you could contact Sony regarding this problem and access to the solution they put in place for me, since they seem to have found a solution to the problem.

I had this same problem just show up out of the blue on two different computers after some windows updates installed. On the desktop I did the control panel>mouse>pointer options>uncheck Hide Pointer while typing fix and it worked. On the laptop it didn't work so I downloaded the free touchfreeze program and left settings at default and that solved the problem. This is definitely a Microsoft Windows 7 problem that only showed up after updates were installed.  I'm not very happy with Microsoft quality control at the moment.

    Download SmartGesture_Win81_64_VER404.zip from http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin8.1/SmartGesture/SmartGesture\_Win81\_64\_VER404.zip

WinKey + X> Device Manager> Expand Mice & other pointing devices> ASUS Touchpad> Update Driver Software

    Situation is much improved.

I now have Win 10 on this machine.

    I can't find  a Touchpad On/Off option.

Settings > Mouse and Touchpad > Touchpad heading > there's only a dropdown with delay options (using long delay improves the situation, but doesn't stop the cursor jumping), and below there's another heading: Related settings. Below Related settings is Additional mouse options. When I click that link, I get Mouse Properties, which is main.cpl, but there's no tab for the Touchpad.

It seems I'm not the only one with this issue. I use "issue" now because "problem" may be going too far. Using the long delay makes the issue/problem livable (but annoying). http://superuser.com/questions/867620/disable-trackpad-on-windows-10

The last post in that thread doesn't apply to my situation.

When I go to main.cpl (which the poster goes to via another route), under the Hardware tab, I have 2 items

    Asus support device

    HID compliant mouse

The HID compliant mouse apparently is the USB-attached cordless mouse.

The thread advocates installing Smart Gestures software. I'll have to read up on what that is.
