When I try to "Find Printer (in MSWord, e.g.) I get the message: The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable.

I'm running Vista Ultimate (SP2) on a home network; and I'm the Administrator.

How do I make the ADDS available?

Hello Dick Bard,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Answers forum! To add to Lorie – One’s suggestion, please try following the steps below:

>Go to Control Panel

> Select Printers

> Right-click on Add Printer

> Select Run as Administrator

Now try to add your network printer.

Please let me know if this helps J

Dick, I've tried Control Pane>> Printer>> Add Printer but there is no Run in Administrator. However, when I do get to "Add Printer" the printer comes up (HP Photosmart 5520) , the computer is looking but then I get a message that the printer was not installed. I have tried to install an other network printer but that also doesn't work . I'm running Windows 8 with a network HP Photosmart 5520.

I have had this problem repeatedly for the past 5 weeks and have yet to get an adequate answer. I am running Windows 7. I use an HP Officejet 6500 printer/scanner/all in one which I have used for 17 months with this same computer.

On 6 out of 7days for 5 weeks I have been unable to connect my printer. The scanner shows (it's the same printer) and the fax shows.

Randomly, it will appear on occasion.

I have reset the spooler; I have run as an adminsitrator. I have revisited all the settings.

I have even toyed with the notion of upgrading to MS8; however, I have a Lenovo x220Tablet and it is not compatible.

I'm desperate to be able to rely on my computer and printer in order to earn my living.

Is there any hope on this last day of 2012?

I had the same problem, The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable.

I went to Services and Print Spooler was stopped. I started it, made sure it was set to start automatically and closed Services.  Open Devices and Printers and my installed printers were back and working. I don't know what caused the Print Spooler to stop but starting resolved the issue. After rebooting it still works. ???

    Dear all.

For the rest of people can't find the solution, try this way:

    Click Start

    Type services.msc and press enter

A services menu comes up.  Scroll to Bluetooth Support Services and right click properties.  Change the startup type to "automatic" and then click "start" under service status
