Logmein123.com Phone/Social Engineering Scam Summary
S. Hatch 6/27/1010
This is an ongoing phone scam occurring worldwide.
Scammers with a heavy Middle-Eastern accent call your home and say that they are from Microsoft, and that your computer has a problem which only they can fix. The
scammers are stressed, and communicate a great sense of urgency. You may hear other sounds in the background that sound like a typical call center environment.
They will ask you to allow them to access your computer remotely by sending you to logmein123.com (watch for other domains to be used in the future).
After gaining access to your computer they run a tool that indicates you have multiple computer issues. After they appear to clean it up, they try to sell you a
support contract. I don’t know if they are installing malware, but it would be safe to assume they are.
