APPLICATION ERROR

I lost all sound on my computer.  When I try to click on the sound volumn icon on my desk top I get the following error message:

 SNDVOL32.EXEC APPLICATION ERROR

The application failed to initalize properly(0xc0000005)

I have already downloaded new sound drivers off the internet but that didn't fix the problem.

Any ideas out there?  Pleae help..........  I need my sound back on.

WELL GLORY HALALUYA, I'VE GOT SOUND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Here's what I did:  Restarted my computer in safe mode and clicked on "Last Known Configuration that Worked."  I then reloaded new sound drivers again (REALTECK AC97) and low and behold sound came back............

That's all I know. 

We'll see how long it last but for now I am one happy camper !

Again my personal thanks to each and every one of you who contributed to this post.  If I could I'd buy you all a beer !

    I guess that might depend on where you obtained your new drivers;

    1. From some unknown web site
    2. From your motherboard maker
    3. from your laptop maker or large OEM, eg Dell /HP
    4. MSUpdate

    And whether Device Manager shows your sound device as having a problem.

    Also whether your PC is clear of malaware

    And whether you have run the system file checker

    I have no sound on my computer.  I downloaded new sound drivers off the internet, installed OK (Reltek AC97) but nothing changed.  When you click on the sound icon (Speaker) to adjust or set the volumn you get the following error message:

    The application failed to initialize properly (OXc0000005)

    Looking at Sounds and Audio Devices in the Control Panel, all devices are indicated as working properly.....

    What can I do?  Many thanks,

    Have already downloaded a new sound driver off the internet and installed but still no sound.

    Control panel for Sounds and Audio Devices indicate all devices are working properly.

    Can any one help with some ideas what I should do?
