Trying to watch netflix movies and getting an error code of 6003: silverlight does not seem to be working.

I talked to a netflix technical assistant tonight and he tried to help me with this problem, but was unsuccessful.  The error code I receive from Netflix is N8156-6003.  He walked me through many different procedures to fix the problem and nothing seems to be working.  He even directed me to try tinyurl.com/netflixsl and after the individualizing it goes to opening and stays there.  My laptop is on 8 months old and is not used very often, not sure what the issue is, Netflix seems to think it is a problem with microsoft, please help.

Hello, Nea5577

After loading the page to watch a video, right click the applet, then click Silverlight.

On the Playback tab ensure that the “Enable download...” option is selected.

On the Application Storage tab, click Delete all to clear any cached files.

Win 7 had Silverlight 3, 4 and 5.  4 was installed back in 5/2011, and 5 was installed today when I used the Fix It mentioned below.

Everything has been fine until yesterday!!

    I am getting Netflix.com Player Error N8156 6003.

    I tried running as admin.

I tried renamed the mspr.hds file, then I deleted the mspr.hds file in PlayReady (yes I found it just fine).  I deleted the Cache folder in there too.

I tried the Fix It at https://support.netflix.com/en/node/211#gsc.tab=0.

I even tried adding netflix.com to the trusted sites under Internet Options.

I tried uninstalling Silverlight 4 and 5 trying all the other steps again.

After uninstalling Silver 4 and 5 I got this message on Netflix:

You're almost ready to watch ......Install the Microsoft Silverlight plug-in now — it only takes a minute.

That put 5 back on my pc but STILL getting the error message.

Called Netflix this is what they told me to do. In windows xp go to start then run type in %allusersprofile% press enter. A new menu will show up look for the folder name Application Data click on it, then look for folder Mircosoft click on it, click on folder named Playready then delete file MSPR.hds. Restart Netflix and it should work did for me. Good luck.

Excellent! This has worked for me. I use Windows XP which couldn't locate the 'playready' folder as suggested by others using other formats.

But following your suggestion, I found it and deleted the mspr.hds file. Netflix is now up and running again.

    Thank you very much :)
