I talked to a netflix technical assistant tonight and he tried to help me with this problem, but was unsuccessful.  The error code I receive from Netflix is N8156-6003.  He walked me through many different procedures to fix the problem and nothing seems to be working.  He even directed me to try tinyurl.com/netflixsl and after the individualizing it goes to opening and stays there.  My laptop is on 8 months old and is not used very often, not sure what the issue is, Netflix seems to think it is a problem with microsoft, please help.

Hello, Nea5577

After loading the page to watch a video, right click the applet, then click Silverlight.

On the Playback tab ensure that the “Enable download...” option is selected.

On the Application Storage tab, click Delete all to clear any cached files.

Netflix fixed my problem.  I had to have internet explorer 64 bit in order to watch their movies.  They fixed the problem.

For me the suggested fix of watching the video as the administrator then returning to a user account resolved my problem. I was attempting this with Firefox v4.0.1

One thought that occurs to me to add to the previous suggestion to log in as administrator.

Logging in as administrator is not the same as logging in using an account in the administrator group, or with administrator rights. It means logging in using the account "administrator".

A small distinction, and one I can't authoritatively define, but the difference exists. This is not the first time I have had software that you could install from an administrator account (or right click install as administrator) which would not work properly. But when I actually logged in as the administrator it would.

"Run your browser as an Administrator. Open Netflix, start watching a movie. Once it successfully starts playing, you can close your browser and then resume watching whatever you’d like to watch"

    Does it help?
