My taskbar keeps disappearing randomly and will not come back until I restart.  Once I restart the taskbar comes back and then disappears again. I have looked at the other solutions from people having similar problems and the solutions do not work.

open Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del, click Task Manager)

Click on File>New Task (Run) and enter "explorer.exe" (without the quotes)

Then click OK.

Does it come back?

Sorry that doesn't work (and unfortunately the 'auto-hide' is not set, wish it was that simple).

I have Windows XP and am having the same problem with the occassional disappearing task bar (except for the start button).  This problem only started about 2 months ago but has become very annoying since I can only fix it by rebooting and sometimes end up having to reboot several times.  I am glad to see that others are having the same issue and that it is not just me but I hope that Microsoft is aware of this issue and will provide an update to fix it?

One thing that I stumbled on is that my screensaver seems to bring the taskbar back.  My screensaver comes up before my computer goes into sleep mode.  I noticed that if I bring the computer back up while the screensaver is up then the taskbar reappears.  I don't now why this worked for me, but I have since set my screensaver to a two-minute delay so that if the taskbar dissappears I only have to wait a couple of minutes and the taskbar is back up.  It has worked consistently for about a week now so you might give that a try.

I'm getting the same problem!  Guess I'm in the 1%.  Did it say anywhere an idea of how long it will take to be fixed?
