Temporary workaround mentioned here > https://www.windowslatest.com/2024/12/23/microsoft-edge-drops-yellow-for-folders-favourites-gets-monoline-transparent-look/
It's incredible how this kind of design error can be made. The ideal thing would be to be able to choose 16.7 million colors for the browser folders and nooo, they remove the typical yellow color to make it translucent and look terrible among the colored favicons.
I have same problem this morning 12/20/2024
What the heck?
This change is horrible. I use my favorites throughout the workday and the yellow folders were extremely handy delineating from individual favorites.
This happened with Edge update Version 131.0.2903.112. I noticed it first on my Windows 11 machine. I checked my Windows 10 machine running Edge version 131.0.2903.99 and it still had yellow folders. As soon as it updated, the yellow folders were gone and replaced with this hideous change.
I think that sometimes engineers/designers make changes only to justify their salaries.
Another PC and a Surface Go now also have the same issue - it seems to be "spreading"
Now on Edge Version 131.0.2903.112 (Official build) (64-bit)
Windows 11 24H2 with various graphics cards (Intel, Intel Arc and nVidia) have now gone from yellow folder icons to outlines, which are almost invisible with some themes.
Have done SFC /ScanNow which shows no errors and DISM /Online /Cleanup-image which has not fixed it. Also cleared the icon cache in case that was causing the problem.
Reported through Edge feedback (pointing to this thread as well) - suggest others do the same to make sure that Microsoft see that there is a wider issue.
