MS Edge Version: 114.0.1823.37

For some reason, I no longer have the Web Select option in the right-click context menu. I still have Web Capture, but Web Select is no longer there. Did MS remove this feature, or is it a bug?

This was a unique, massively useful, distinguishing feature and one of the only reasons to use Edge over competitors. What exactly does Edge offer over other Chrome based browsers without this type of value-add feature?

    Hi Folks,

Web Select Feature can be enabled in Edge with administrator privileges / Edge Beta without administrator privileges as mentioned below:-

Update the edge/edge beta to the latest version (Version 119.0.2151.58 (Official build) (64-bit)/Version 119.0.2151.44 (Official build) beta (64-bit)) and close the browser.

Remove the Edge & Edge Beta Shortcuts in Desktop, Unpin from Start and Taskbar.

Now search edge / edge beta in all apps -> Then right click on edge as mentioned in below screenshot -> pin to taskbar

    Image

Right Click the Edge/Edge Beta -> Then right click on Microsoft Edge/Edge Beta as mentioned in below screenshot

    Image

Then Click Properties -> Change Target as "FilePath" --enable-features=msEdgeAreaSelect and click Apply, then OK.

    E.g., "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" --enable-features=msEdgeAreaSelect

    "C:\Users\Resolver\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge Beta\Application\msedge.exe" --enable-features=msEdgeAreaSelect

    Image

Then open edge-> type edge://flags/#edge-screenshot in URL bar, then change the Microsoft Edge Split Screen and Microsoft Edge Screenshot from Default/Disabled to Enabled as mentioned in below screenshot.

Restart the browser. Click Ctrl+Shift+X to use web select feature.

I just found out a workaround for now, I am currently in Dev Channel in Windows 11 Insiders Program. There was a setting below to opt out from preview releases of Edge and when I opt out it reverted to this version.

and it's back for me! ⚠️ This reset my browser though so all my opened and pinned tabs were gone.

I have noticed that the Web select feature has been merged with the Web capture feature. When you click on the Web capture feature, you will see the Web select feature. Press Shift + Ctrl + X brings up the Web capture feature which includes the Web select feature.
