iCloud.com encountered an error while trying to connect to the server

I get the pop-up that says "iCloud encountered an error connecting to the server". However, if I connect to a mobile hotspot, iCloud works without any issue on Edge!

Observations

  • I am able to access iCloud through my iOS device (iPhone) connected to the same high-speed broadband Wifi connection.
  • iCloud.com is accessible on Edge browser only if my PC is connected to the internet via a mobile (4G/5G) hotspot connection.
  • The issue does not occur at all on Firefox (irrespective of the connection mode)!

Any clues on how to solve this issue? Looks like it's an Edge issue on Windows 11 when connected to a broadband Wifi connection.

Hey,

I'm just here to confirm that disabling IPv6 helped me resolve this issue.

Alternatively, switching to Google Public DNS also resolved the issue as per users on Reddit. To know step-by-step instruction to switch to Google Public DNS check out this guide -- <link removed>

    Confirmed...

    I disabled IPv6 in the wifi network adapter and I was immediately able to access iCloud.com via both Chrome and Edge.

    icloud.com isn't working on any browser for me.
    Doesn't work on Brave, Chrome, Edge, or Mozilla Firefox...

    I updated everything on my machine and deleted all cache, and browser history. Tried using 2g WIFI instead of the 5g band on my network. Nothing, absolutely nothing works. I even restarted my machine like 3 separate times. It was working on this machine about a week ago.

    I believe it still works on my laptop though which is connected to my network.

    icloud works on my other laptop which is on the same WiFi network, but it doesn't work on ANY browser on my desktop.

    Apple support works. Apple servers are working. Has to be some issue with some Windows systems and their handling of maybe security / web based applications. What's causing it? I have virtually no clue

    Thank you for the information on how to capture information while attempting to connect to iCloud.

    I have managed to capture some, hopefully, useful information.

    1. Attempting to access iCloud.com using Edge.

    1. Attempting to access iCloud.com using Chrome.

    Unfortunately, my programming experience is old school. I see errors, but I do not know anything about this programming language. Hopefully someone can see clues and determine the cause of this problem.

    Firefox is able to access iCloud.com without any issues.
