360 videos in WMR not working

Hello,

I'm having issues with the new Microsoft edge playing 360/vr videos in WMR. First of all, to get an option to play vr video I have to go through that app "360 videos" in the cliff house. Finding a 360 video via youtube in edge directly doesn't work because the goggle icon on the bottom of the screen is missing. However, if I start any of the offered 360 videos via the cliff house 360 video app, that opens youtube video in the edge, and now the goggle icon is present. This allows me to play VR videos, but really this doesn't work either because the videos are very choppy. I did not have this issue prior to the new edge installation. I'm using Samsung Odyssey+. Any suggestions to solve this issue?

After looong trial and error,.....

Start with a reboot, Googles HDMI connected, USB disconnected (after completed boot),....plug in Goggles (USB), .......

Make sure Mixed Reality Portal NOT running and controllers are not connected to your computer (bluetooth)

On Desktop, run Microsoft Edge> go to youtube select a 360 video, you'll see the Goggle Icon , click it to enter VR,

now Mixed Reality Portal will start, ....put on your Goggles and enjoy the video.

After that you can select any other 360 video and it will work as long as all control stays with the desktop.

REPEAT:

All control has to stay with the desktop, otherwise it will not work.

Controllers have to stay disconnected, otherwise it will throw you back into the Cliff House

Hope this helps, and please,.....Microsoft,.....GET IT FIXED !!!

My setup:

Samsung Odyssey+

Win 10 v21H1 (Os Build 19043.1055), i7-9750H, Nvidia RTX 2060, 32GB

(All latest Drivers)

    Hi Patrick,

I've sent an email to you. My schedule is pretty busy but I'll do my best to get the requested info as soon as possible. It may take a a few days.

    Thanks!

Hi Patrick, well that is good news on one hand, it surprised me though that you don't have this issue with the G2. I asked around in the G2 Discord and the G2 Reddit sub and everybody who responded had exactly the same result :-/

Unfortunately I must pass the TTTrace offer - I'm not that technical, I read the TTTrace page and with me you probably will have the worst candidate to set this up with.

Hopefully somebody else with a bit more knowledge is willing/able to do this?

Sorry Warrie, looks like there's some filter on here that removes all email addresses. The email is patrto (at) microsoft (dot) com

A TTTrace captures all the code being executed, so you would record a trace while you try to use WebXR and then share the trace file. I'd be able to use the file to replay and debug through all of the code that was executed. There's more information about it here: Time Travel Debugging - Record a trace - Windows drivers | Microsoft Docs

The setup could be a bit complicated, so feel free to email me if you'd be willing to go through the process.

We do have a G2 Reverb and unfortunately things work correctly on our machine. I initially thought it was specific to G2 as well, but Archer Six reported the same issue with an Acer headset, which could potentially be the same underlying issue.

Hi Patrick, your email adress was removed from that message. What is a TTTrace exactly?
Do you have access to a G2 Reverb and do the videos play correctly with a G2 on your end? Because for so far I read all the posts about this - everybody with a G2 has the exact same '4 floating balls' issue.
