360 videos in WMR not working

Hello,

I'm having issues with the new Microsoft edge playing 360/vr videos in WMR. First of all, to get an option to play vr video I have to go through that app "360 videos" in the cliff house. Finding a 360 video via youtube in edge directly doesn't work because the goggle icon on the bottom of the screen is missing. However, if I start any of the offered 360 videos via the cliff house 360 video app, that opens youtube video in the edge, and now the goggle icon is present. This allows me to play VR videos, but really this doesn't work either because the videos are very choppy. I did not have this issue prior to the new edge installation. I'm using Samsung Odyssey+. Any suggestions to solve this issue?

After looong trial and error,.....

Start with a reboot, Googles HDMI connected, USB disconnected (after completed boot),....plug in Goggles (USB), .......

Make sure Mixed Reality Portal NOT running and controllers are not connected to your computer (bluetooth)

On Desktop, run Microsoft Edge> go to youtube select a 360 video, you'll see the Goggle Icon , click it to enter VR,

now Mixed Reality Portal will start, ....put on your Goggles and enjoy the video.

After that you can select any other 360 video and it will work as long as all control stays with the desktop.

REPEAT:

All control has to stay with the desktop, otherwise it will not work.

Controllers have to stay disconnected, otherwise it will throw you back into the Cliff House

Hope this helps, and please,.....Microsoft,.....GET IT FIXED !!!

My setup:

Samsung Odyssey+

Win 10 v21H1 (Os Build 19043.1055), i7-9750H, Nvidia RTX 2060, 32GB

(All latest Drivers)

Hi Patrick, multiple posts about this issue which makes it a bit confusing :) replied in the other post but just to make sure I'll also post it here:

    - Name of VR Headset: G2 Reverb

    - Which VR Controllers attached (if any): G2 Reverb controllers

    - Number of GPUs installed in your computer, and which ones: 1, 2080 Super

In Microsoft Edge, navigate to edge://system to get this information:

    - Edge version: 91.0.864.54

    - 360 viewer version (expand 'extensions' to see this version number):
I don't have this extension. When I go to the Microsoft store and search for this I see the '360 viewer for legacy version'. Another message: Are you using the newest Edge:? Go to Invoegtoepassingen voor Microsoft Edge

On that store I get no results when I search for 360 or 360 viewer.I believe I read the 360 viewer was now integrated in Edge and is not an extension anymore?

    - Search for "Apps & Features" in the Windows start menu and open the first result. Find "OpenXR for Windows Mixed Reality", click "Advanced Options", and paste the version here (Should be something like 106.xxxx.xxxxx.x): 107.2106.1002.0

    - Do you have SteamVR installed? Yes

         - If so, please provide the value of this registry key on your machine: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenXR\1]
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\MixedRealityRuntime.json

In Microsoft Edge, navigate to Immersive VR Session (immersive-web.github.io) and click "Enter VR".

    - What behavior do you experience? (for example, black screen with four spinning dots, black screen and then quickly back to the cliff house, "VR Not Found" is displayed, or some other behavior): ____

Black screen, 4 spinning balls. The same as when I try to open a 360 video in VR.

One other thing I noticed - when opening a VR video in Edge (watching it on my desktop), the video is extremely stuttery. I9 9900, 2080 Super. In Firefox the same video runs silky smooth.

    • If you have controllers connected, please turn off and disconnect them, restart Edge, and repeat. Do you still experience issues? Yes

We are actively investigating the issue. This seems to be specific to certain hardware so we’re currently tracking down the correct headsets and controllers. Thank you for your patience, we’ll have the fix out as soon as possible.
