The new Edge browser will occasionally freeze. When this happens there is no screen control and ending the Edge process using the task manager closes the browser window bur does not release all the resources forcing me to restart the PC. This can happen on a webpage or when watching videos. Is this a known problem and has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? I am running Windows 10 with the 2004 update installed, have no problems with other applications and no freezing when using Firefox or Chrome

Update: This is end of June. The freeze completely stopped. Others claimed that the solution did not work for them. So this may not be a fix all solution.

I was just using Edge to view MSN.com but it freezes on that too. Giving up and going back to Chrome. Ridiculous
I had a 10 year old Dell laptop running Window 8.1 and I had no problem at all using Edge. I bought a Dell desktop two weeks ago with Window 11 in it, and I experienced problem with Edge right away. The new computer is relatively clean and I have few applications and extensions, and those I also used in my Win 8.1 laptop with no issues.
The problem I think is related to the new OS--Window 10 and Window 11. The fix offered asks us to turn off the hardware accelerator. It is easy to do and I just did it. I will see if that fix the problem. But I feel like being asked to make my hardware "less capable," which I can't feel too happy about.
Sure the problem maybe complicated and the trouble shooting could take hours or days, especially when most users (including me) do NOT really know what they are doing. Imagine millions of people wasting tons of hours and days fixing this problem and MS thinks this is NOT a priority, especially when it is now actively promoting Edge? The easiest way might just for me to use other browsers rather.
run the edge as administrator from the start window.. wait for simetime then a dialogue box will pop up asking you for the browser to restart.. click yes.. and done.... hope it works in your pc too, it worked for me
