New Microsoft Edge wont play HDR videos in YouTube

As the title describes, I cannot play/ see HDR YouTube videos - the option is not available any more from the resolution selection.

With previous Edge (prior to 15/01/2020) I could and I could also choose a higher resolution from my screen's native one.

I would like to point out also, that neither Chrome and Firefox provide such option - I really cannot understand why but my issue here is with Edge.

Yes, my screen is HDR capable.

I would highly appreciate any help into solving this matter.

    1;) I use edge and chrome, but i found the only way i can play 4k to 8k 'HDR ' videos is to use the 'Beta' version of chrome and then i can do it. but normal chrome wont do it for me. 

    2;)To avoid the hideous new youtube 'layout' 

    i installed 'good old youtube' in the extension in both chrome and 'beta chrome'.  eventually when you get up your 'cache' you will find no new ugly new layout. you cannot do this in 'Microsoft edge browser' only chrome will do this and so that is why i use this but the 'beta version'

    I use windows 10 latest version, i have very strong pc with an asus PG27UQ 4k HDR monitor with extremely fast fibre connection.

    I have the same problem, the newest edge browser cannot automatically play HDR video in Youtube, but the old version can.

    This was with the old Edge version the reason why I changed to use it instead of Chrome. Now after windows update, both browser can't play HDR content anymore from Youtube.

    I have Lenovo Slim 7 with Dolby vision screen. With old Edge browser youtube gave automatically HDR version of the video, not anymore with the new Edge. 

    I will uninstall windows 10 and turn to Ubuntu user. 

    bye bye Microsoft, sad that you could not fix this issue.

    Ah, don't bother.

    I have already given them what they asked for.

    This is a "I'll ask for a lot and write even more until we get someone to give us an actuall solution" reply.

    We're halfway into the (pretty bad may I add) year and still no fix.

    Try this:

    1. in the address bar type in edge://flags/ and press enter
    2. Scroll to find to search for "Force Color Profile" 
    3. Click the drop down and select "HDR10( HDR where available)"
    4. Click on Restart at the bottom. 

    This will fix the issue with every platform on which you stream HDR content 

    Indeed it does resolve the issue and now YouTube will stream HDR videos but bright areas are burned out.
