New Microsoft Edge wont play HDR videos in YouTube

As the title describes, I cannot play/ see HDR YouTube videos - the option is not available any more from the resolution selection.

With previous Edge (prior to 15/01/2020) I could and I could also choose a higher resolution from my screen's native one.

I would like to point out also, that neither Chrome and Firefox provide such option - I really cannot understand why but my issue here is with Edge.

Yes, my screen is HDR capable.

I would highly appreciate any help into solving this matter.

    Try this:

    1.In the address bar, enter "edge://flags/" and press Enter.

    2.type "Color" in the search

    1. Click on the Force Color Profile drop-down list and select sRGB Linear (HDR, if available).
    2. Click the Force Colors drop-down list and select Enabled.
    3. Click "Restart" at the bottom.

    Let's see if that solves the problem.

    Hi,

    You can do that and the HDR options then come up on the videos, however, achieving this by forcing the color profile does not provide the same optimal hdr that native support from the edge browser provided. Sometimes the whites and the images in general are way to washed out.

    Could this possibly just be a flag for a feature that isn’t yet finalized for the new Edge browser and be removed when it is? I know Microsoft took away “Hey Cortana” from Cortana with the Windows update and said it would be restored later. Maybe this was another backwards step by Microsoft?

    How did you get the new edge browser to give you Youtube HDR? Still doesn't work for me. And to be clear, my laptop screen only got HDR capability with a bios/firmware update and only supports HDR video streaming and not the WCG or HDR games and apps.

    Same issue, new Edge got installed and is a piece of **** that broke HDR, now I can't seem to get the old version back.

    Edit: New edge HDR works fine on youtube, only netflix is the issue.
