WHY am I being FORCED to deal with Microsoft edge?

Your entitled to your opinion but the fact is there are hundreds of thousands, if not more, and the vast majority appear to be perfectly happy with Edge Chromium. While you may not be able to uninstall Edge Chromium there is nothing stopping you from using any other browser you choose.

Things like this drive, if not force, people away from using M/soft Edge. The very reasons I won't use their browser, and have never done so since pre-Windows 7, when they tried forcing it onto users back then, with constant barrage of notifications when online. That decided it for me and I've used other browsers since, and not one that likes to mine personal information without permissions. I deleted it recently and now it's been installed [again!] and I'm now having to do the same work to delete it all. 

I don't want it, [forced or not] and don't need it either, you're entitled to your opinion, but the fact remains this is a forced update.

So basically they're putting out a reworked browser, and one that failed miserably too, and forcing their version of Chrome onto users without permission. Why should I want this when I already have a browser that does exactly what I want and doesn't get forced onto me, let alone mine my details?

Edit: To cap it all, there's a prompt at the top of this web page to download and install the same thing! It's invasive and pervasive to boot!

There's no use, so please send feedback to Microsoft. That will do something.

I fully agree with Heidi. I like Google Chrom because I have learned how to use it. I'm up in age and don't want to learn anything new. I thought I had gotten rid of Edge. Now, every time I turn on my computer, up pops Edge. Why?

Not true. After the lastest Windows 10 update on my previous computer, Chrome never worked the same again. It was time for a new pc anyway, so I purchased a new Dell. Now, Microsoft won't allow me to run the chrome exe file after I download it. Don't tell me it's an issue with the settings...it's not. Miscrosoft is forcing it's users to use Edge and making it close to impossible to choose other browsers. 

I'm going back to my Mac and I'll check in a few weeks from now to see if Microsoft gets it that we won't be forced into using Edge. Bye

I dont know if you did this already but I did a system restore, then searched my pc for services.msc located windows update and disabled it.

2. Disabled Windows update medical service
3. Open regedit.and went to 4.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WaaSMedicSvc
4. Clicked start (dword) and changed the value to 4

6 also went to USOSRV and  wuauserv and changed the start sword to 4

Now, every two days edge will try to reinstall. so the 1st thing to do  When When you turn on the computer is disable everything again. You do this before it is at start so I usually check 1st thing after logging on. I also control alt delete and end task for windows update in the task manager.

  That being said I have since updated edge on my own I did not allow the manager to do it... here at the reason I did it is because I figured out how to import all of my cookies, favorites in from edge legacy..
