remove Bing from microsoft edge

My question is very simple that is HOW DO I REMOVE BING AS SEARCH ENGINE FROM MICROSOFT EDGE.

Please, please and please give me a simple  and direct answer or solution and not by "beating around the bush"

I am getting very fed up with Bing appearing as my search engine. I never as for it but how come Bing came in as my search engine. There are thousands if not millions that HATE Bing. Why is it still there, JUST REMOVE IT OUT FROM THE WEB or whatever permanently.

PLEAE HELP ME TO REMOVE BING IN A VERY SIMPLIFIED  STEPS!

Assuming you're using the Chromium-based Edge, open Edge settings [click ⋯ (Settings and more) > Settings], then choose Privacy, search and services > Address bar and search > Manage search engines. You should see Google as an option. Click the ellipsis (three dots) at the right end of the entry and choose Make default.

    Many thanks for all who responded to my question about removing the Bing search window from Edge even though your default search engine is Google. 

    Clear to me that Microsoft wants people who use their browser to use Bing as their search engine.  While Microsoft allows you to change the the Edge default search engine of Bing to a search engine of your choice, they do not allow you to get rid of the Bing search window in the middle of an Edge browser page.

    Modifying Registry entries as suggested by many, did not work.

    My solution will therefore be to use another browser,  Firefox or Chrome

    Thanks again to all - no further responses are necessary.

    You are asking the wrong question 

    Changing your search engine to something other than Bing is easy.  Seems to me your question, as is mine, is how to get rid the  Bing Search window in Edge even when your search engine is, as an example, Google.

    I have tried everything even to the extent of editing certain entries in the Registry.

    I would rather never use Cortana and manually open Chrome for everything I need than get hacked. 

    If you set Edge to use a different search provider and you never use Cortana, you shouldn't ever see Bing unless you specifically ask for it. No need for Chrome.

    On the "Address bar search engines", it automatically makes Bing the search engine and will not let me change it.  It has a little red circle with a line through it when I try to click on it to change it.  

    Is your computer perhaps running Windows 10S? Changing the default search provider is not allowed. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4020089/windows-10-in-s-mode-faq 

    Otherwise, someone else - the IT department at school or work, for example - can prevent changes to the default search provider. If this is the case, you will see Managed by your organization at the foot of the Settings and more menu. Click on that and then on the link at the end of the explanation to see what they are managing.

    Either way, this only means that searches from the New Tab Page will be carried out by Bing. You could set the Home page to the home page of your favourite search engine: 

    Settings and more > Settings > Appearance > Show home button.
