How do I remove Microsoft Edge From Windows 10?

I've poked around and all threads on this question seem to have been locked. I'm not sure why we're forced to have edge installed if we don't want it. Can someone please provide exact instructions on how to remove Edge?

Hey there, everyone

Microsoft Edge cannot be uninstalled from Windows. This is because the browser is built into Windows - but gets updates separately from the Windows Update client. 

No matter which command you decide to run in PowerShell, this will not work. You can, of course, use an alternative browser. To do this, please download and install a browser of your choice though the Microsoft Store, or though the web browser. 

Once you launch the other web browser, such as Chrome, it will ask you if you want to make that browser a default browser. Once you select this, everything should open in Chrome, and not Edge. 

For those who are saying that Microsoft is forcing you to use Edge. You can use a different browser instead of Edge. Just like, if you were using an iPhone, you can install another browser instead of the built-in browser called Safari. Android systems have a built-in browser too, which cannot be uninstalled, but you are able to use a different browser too. 

Is this something new? No, browsers have always been built into the OS. Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 have Internet Explorer which is built into the OS. Windows 8, 8.1, 10 also have Edge built in too.

    It's more than that. When you log in, you get a full-screen Edge page. I had to kill it with the windows task manager.

    It installed shortcuts on every toolbar and on the desktop. Other programs do that too: programs I CHOOSE to download and most of those have the courtesy of asking you if you want a desktop icon.

    It isn't that Microsoft is updating Edge, it is the IN-YOUR-FACE manner in which they do it.

    Besides deleting Edge, is there a way to remove it from invading various parts of the OS? I am having to reset which programs open which file types like *.PDF. It thinks Edge should do this instead of Acrobat now... and Edge is in the right-click "open with" menu. I couldn't even exit the "Welcome to Microsft Edge" screen at boot up and had to end it's task lol - the only option was to proceed with it.

    I agree wholeheartedly. I might have switched to the new Edge if I had not switched to another browser when the old Edge came out.

    I am not complaining about what Edge does to my computer. As best I can tell, it does nothing bad. The complaint is the IN-YOUR-FACE manner in which Microsoft introduced it. It wasn't even a pop-up ad - it wasn't a commercial on the login $creen. It was a full-screen invasion of my computer when I logged in. It installed shortcuts on every one of my taskbars and put a shortcut on my desktop.

    Other programs do this too but only WHEN I INSTALL THEM and they usually have check boxes you can uncheck to keep this from happening.

    A program that installs itself, without the user's permission and is this invasive is malware. It is a PUP - a potentially unwanted program. Edge was unwanted by me. As I said above, it's not harmful just unwanted. Had I gotten a pop up saying that it was available and would I like to install it, I probably would.

    I will give Microsoft credit: they could have done it a lot worse. They could have changed my browser preference to Edge and made Bing my search engine.

    have tried and BEST GEEKS have tried cant UNinstall edge. went to apps/programs and it wont let you uninstall or modify-so I modified and turned it all off. all features OFF. nothing working for edge I run firefox and prefer it. no problems so maybe just turning OFF will kept it quiet till find answer.

    STILL would like to now how to get rid of tho
