Hi
I've upgraded to chromium edge but now videos are autoplaying again. I had this disabled on classic Edge but can't work out how to do this on the new version.
I've set "Media autoplay" to "Limit" in the "Site Permissions" section of settings but this doesn't seem to have had any effect at all (yes, I've restarted Edge / Windows).
I had also had this problem with dev / beta builds of Edge but hadn't got around to chasing it up until it became my primary browser.
In particular it's annoying on the MSN new pages linked to from the new tab page in Edge when they all have autoplaying video.

Why isn't there an option called "Block"?
You'll probably find that the block option has to be enabled. Copy the next line into the address bar and press Enter:
edge://flags/#edge-autoplay-user-setting-block-option
Once this flag is enabled, you should see Block on the autoplay options menu.

In the new Microsoft Edge, the option of automatic playback is limited.
However, you can install an extension like autoplayblocker from the Chrome web store to disable Autoplay. (You may have to enable extensions from other store).
That’s good advice from Firedog. I hope you’re not saying the Edge Development Team is not aware of this issue where Block doesn’t mean Block. Where users don’t have control over their Windows experience or privacy. They’ve knew about video autoplay problem before Chromium Edge was ever launched.

That statement seems to be at odds with what’s going on with video autoplay.
As I was writing this my 2-year-old Grandson asked me what I was doing. I told him about the problems with video autoplay in Edge. He looked straight into my eyes with a curiousness that 2-year-olds have and said, “Why Papa.”
The thing that bothers me with this issue is we a huge crowd of people have let Microsoft know about the flaws with edge yet they don't seem to be fixing it, i would like to know why this is and when it's going to be fixed as like so many others ill be moving to firefox too, I can stop video autoplay with HTML5 block autoplay extensions but I should not need to, Microsoft is it not the time you got your thumb out of your behind and fix this.
I wonder how many of the people who post their dissatisfactions here ALSO use the Microsoft Feedback function:

If you see something in Edge that you don't like, or there is a feature you're missing, please use the browser's feedback option to make your opinion or wishes known. Feedback goes straight to the Edge team and forms the basis for their future work. The most common items of feedback are collated each month and a table listing them and the progress that's being made with them is posted at the top of this forum.
If you examine the current table, you'll see this item:
Planned for December Allow more top sites on the New Tab Page This means that the feature will be released for testing in the insider previews then, and all being well added to the public stable version soon afterwards.

the thing is ihave already left feedback without any change occurring so it seems pointless as for preview builds i get them too but microsoft still not fixed the issues reported, the insider previews are not adressing the edge problems, it seems to be falling on deaf ears, i gave feedback about the constant cookie preference and still it pops up, im seriously considering a different browser now, i mean ive only been usingwindows for 30 years plus i would of thought they would of started listening ti its users by now.
