Starting today (1/4/2022), whenever I click on a news article in the New Tab page, the Microsoft Start page is displayed instead. How do I stop that from happening?

This is very irritating. When I click on a news feed on the start screen on Edge the last thing I want is to be redirected to "Microsoft Start" and then try to hunt down the article on there. If I want MS Start I'll go to my widgets screen.
Same. This happened to me starting today. I get caught in an endless loop opening a new tab to Microsoft Start and the hyperlink never gets to where it should when I click it.
Someone else described this as irritating. I would say that irritation is a mild description - this is infuriating. Who at Microsoft thought it would be a good idea that when a user clicks a newsfeed link, they get redirected to a completely unrelated page and need to search further for the new article they wanted to read in the first place? Taking a page from poor customer service, "instead of giving them what they want, let's give them what WE want"!
The reported fix did not work for me. Microsoft needs to fix this ASAP.
Thanks,
Hello Carlo,
I am also having the same issue. I tried restarting to default settings and I am already at the version of Edge that you identified. I restarted and those actions did not change anything. Edge still launches out to www.msn.com feed and will not open the actual link.
