How do you stop edge from opening a new tab every time you click a link???

Microsoft made disabling this feature such a chore, and navigating settings didn't help one bit. I figured I'd ask on the forums before ditching edge all together.

    Had same issue in Edge browser but below method worked for me. earlier when i click on any link in search or from home page it opens in new tab but now it opens on same tab.

    Method

    1- Go to Bing.com

    2- On bing page near your profile picture click on 3 horizontal lines.

    3-Click on Settings > More

    4- uncheck both options in results section and save.

    x Open links from search results in a new tab or window x Open links from news results in a new tab or window

    Hi,

    for me it was the "Safe Search" settings on the bing website.

    If you go on bing.com, click on the three stripes on the top right corner and select SafeSearch you will be redirected to a SafeSearch settings inside bing. Now, you scroll down and uncheck the two boxes at the bottom named:

    "Open links from search results in new tab or window"

    and

    "Open links from new results in new tab or window"

    That solved it for me, hope it helps you!

    You need to keep on deleting browsing history, because this stupid behavior of opening new tabs when a link is clicked will come back after you've visited a few websites. THIS IS SO STUPID!!!!
