General Random Write disk speed degradation in Windows 11.

After updating several machines from Windows 10 to Windows 11 users have noticed a significant degradation on Disk Random Write speed. This is quite noticeable with NVMe SSDs benchmarks, it also seems to affect SATA SSDs even if it is not as significant. See 3 samples below with 3 different devices on Windows 10 and Windows 11:

    Cool -- well at least it's some progress in the right direction. Perhaps we'll see more improvement as they further bug fix/tweak the OS!

    Anyone notice a small (but fairly significant) random read/write improvement with the latest Win 11 OS update from MS - this one:

    November 22, 2021—KB5007262 (OS Build 22000.348) Preview (microsoft.com)

    Since I installed that today, I noticed about a 15% to 20% increase in random read/write speeds.

    Anyone else?

    Maybe 10% on Q32T16 and 5% on Q1T1, see below 22000.348 versus 22000.318.

    Agreed - VBS is only part of the story -- but not the whole issue.

    May original test with windows 10 had VBS enabled I think, I'm about ready to try again, I just restored Windows 10.

    Here is the same box Dell XPS 8930 with Windows 10 Build 19044.1348 a few minutes ago.

    Quite a difference with Random 4K write.
