One more thing to keep in mind, things change every day, even renaming appraiserres.dll may not be enough in some cases, because if you are connected to the network they may download a new one in this directory on the C:$WINDOWS.~BT and they can still block the upgrade when they see that the machine is not supported. In that case you will get the specific message showing what is missing.

I was just trying an Upgrade from 19043.1202 to 22000.xxx with the 22000.132 ISO on a non Insider system and MS still blocked it.

Had to deleted the $WINDOWS.~BT and try it again while offline (disconnected) without checking for updates.

It is becoming a game, I think it may be pointless trying to find all the new blocks that are changing every day of the week.

At the end you will need a fully supported machine to do any meaningful testing of Windows 11. 😆

Now that I'm up on 22000.132 on a red zone box it is getting updates without being on insider yet.

Getting up to 22000.184 installing kb5005642 36%...

We'll see what happens next and if I can get up to 22454.1000....

Installing from 22454.1000 (Modified) ISO while offline, 37% complete, we'll see if it keeps going...

It will need to get to Insider Dev some how after it is done...😉

I'm away from the PC now. But when I click on the Insider Program panel it resets the regedit and shows that I'm out ...

Do you know Schorödinger's cat? a quantum experiment (like my Panel or Insider Program settings) that the cat is kept in a dead and alive state at the same time but if I click on the Panel to check then the cat dies... have you read this about quantum?

It doesn't matter if you get CU updates those come also outside insider.

You can edit the ISO if you like.

I personally use UUbyte ISO editor for that purpose, but you can do it without editing the original ISO, just copying all the stuff from the mounted ISO to a temp directory and run from there after you rename the file.

For doing an upgrade, you don't even need to create the installation media on USB unless you want to do a clean install later, you can just copy all the files and folders from the mounted ISO to a temp directory and then rename the file in the sources directory and do the setup from the temp folder instead of the installation media.
