[Resolved in Build 22567] New Task Manager reverting back to the old style with Build 22557.1, randomly on different machines.

After updating to Build 22557.1 on 2/16/2022 the new style Task Manager showed up and worked as advertise in the blog except for a minor bug with the Title of the tabs defaulting to Processes regardless of the tab selected to open as default in settings.

A day later on 2/17/2022 the new Task Manager started to revert to the old style on some machines randomly.

Other machines still have the new style Task Manager.

It appears to be another typical A/B testing done by MS without any warning to the users.

On one machine it reverted back again on 2/18/2022 after I restored it to the new style the day before.

I have no problem participating in A/B testing, but I'd like MS to notify when they change those experimental features so that the users are not left guessing on what is happening.

[We are beginning to roll this change out, so it isn’t available to all Insiders just yet as we plan to monitor feedback and see how it lands before pushing it out to everyone.]

As mentioned in our blog post here from earlier this month (read the blog here), we will be trying new features out with Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel through a variety of ways. This means sometimes you might see a feature or change, and sometimes you might not - and sometimes you might see a feature or change and it reverts back as we try things out. As mentioned in our blog post for Build 22557, the new Task Manager design is only available to a subset of Insiders right now as we monitor feedback before making it available to all Insiders in the Dev Channel.

And one additional note to address some of the other questions/suggestions in the thread: the Update Stack Package is not in any way related to this feature being enabled (or not enabled). :)

New Task Manager now out to all users with Build 22567.

    This is correct.

If you don't see it after installing 22567, please file a new feedback item.

Closing this thread since the original issue is resolved!

    Hi fg,

On the clean install I had the new one until shutdown last night.

Today I have the old one and I'm glad I do, I don't like the colors of the new one.

    Hi Sibro,

They need to justify their jobs one way or another.

They used to call these "Job Security Projects" 🤣

    They only make Drew happy.

I don't see any advantage on the new format either. 🤐

Regardless of the Stack update or A & B testing; my Task Manager reverted to the old design from the new one.

    Davy.

They reverted back mine too again, with the disabled configurations I mentioned earlier, nothing to do with Update Stack Package or any other update, there were no updates today on my systems.

One reverted back to the old Task Manager the other has still the new one.

    Edit:

I changed it back to the new one again. We'll see how long it lasts. 😉

Maybe time for a separate thread on this specific subject and A/B testing. 🤣
