[Resolved in Build 22567] New Task Manager reverting back to the old style with Build 22557.1, randomly on different machines.

After updating to Build 22557.1 on 2/16/2022 the new style Task Manager showed up and worked as advertise in the blog except for a minor bug with the Title of the tabs defaulting to Processes regardless of the tab selected to open as default in settings.

A day later on 2/17/2022 the new Task Manager started to revert to the old style on some machines randomly.

Other machines still have the new style Task Manager.

It appears to be another typical A/B testing done by MS without any warning to the users.

On one machine it reverted back again on 2/18/2022 after I restored it to the new style the day before.

I have no problem participating in A/B testing, but I'd like MS to notify when they change those experimental features so that the users are not left guessing on what is happening.

    Another weird behavior with the new experimental Task Manager.

    Yesterday I had the new one working on this Desktop, but today it reverted back to the old format, yet a second desktop still has the new experimental Task Manager, why did they decide to turn it off on one machine and not the other? MS is playing a weird game with one of my machines.

    yet another older desktop XPS 8300 still has the new experimental Task Manager.

    Edit:

    I restored the image backup from yesterday and got back the new Task Manager on the XPS 8930. The question remains, why was it reverted back to the old Task Manager after a day? Are they playing A/B testing again?

    Regardless of the Stack update or A & B testing; my Task Manager reverted to the old design from the new one.

    old Task Manager. May have had to do with the Update Stack Package

    received this afternoon.

    Received the Update Stack Package on all my 4 Dev installs at the same time as the actual update. Installed the package before the main.

    Edit - just received another package, which didn't affect Task Manager

    I don't think it is related to the Update Stack Package which I got on 3 machines, only one machine reverted back to old task manager.

    I found out what they are changing to disable the new task manager and I can switch it one way or the other modifying the 2 added feature configurations. See my previous post.

    I think they are still playing with A/B testing as usual without telling us.

    Eventually a second machine reverted to the old Task Manager, but again it seems unrelated to the Update Stack Package.

    Usually when they modify the configurations for the new features they do while we check for updates, but it does not really matter which update is downloading.

    The third machine had several updates during the day including the Update Stack Package, but the Task Manager was not changed, and it is still the new one even after several reboots.

    Anyway, I fixed the second box that was reverted to the old Task Manager with the same configuration changes mentioned earlier.

    Now I have all 3 boxes back with the new Task Manager again. (At least till they screw them up again). 😏
