Snipping Tool issues with Build 25295

Split from this thread.

Sure did. Tried also repair and reset.

It didn't help.

Would be nice to be able to install older versions in cases like this.

Hi Sibro,

I solved the Snipping Tool problem by restoring 25284 and then upgrading to 25295 directly, skipping 25290.1000 and 25290.1010.

Snipping tool works fine now on the same machine that was failing when it went from 25290.1010 to 25295.1000.

Go figure!

What made me suspicious was that error on DCOM 25290.1010.

    Hi Pauli,

That command does not work for me.

It is not finding anything. maybe you are using a different Power Shell version?

    >I bet they are the same 2 devices that had the tzsync.exe problem?

You have just lost your bet. Failing devices are those which has short list of Dev updates and tzsync was working.

I run this command on all four devices:

Get-AppxPackage –AllUsers -Name *MicrosoftWindows.Client.C* | Select Name, PackageFullName

And it give this same result on all devices: Note filter - Name *PARTIAL NAME* in PS command line

Was the opposite for me, the ones failing are the same that failed tzsync. 🤣

Anyway, I could fix all machines issuing these commands:

    Get-AppxPackage MicrosoftWindows.Client.Core -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

    Get-AppxPackage MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

    Applying your fix:

    Get-AppxPackage MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

Remove old versions and now Snip tool is working on all devices.

New button is working fine on two devices and fails on two devices.

I bet they are the same 2 devices that had the tzsync.exe problem?

Check if you have both versions of these 2 Apps, the old ones were left over after the update to 25295. 🤣🤷‍♂️

I think the 25290.1010 should not be there anymore and it is causing the problems.

    MicrosoftWindows.Client.Core MicrosoftWindows.Client.Core_1000.25290.1010.0_x64__cw5n1h2txyewy

    MicrosoftWindows.Client.Core MicrosoftWindows.Client.Core_1000.25295.1000.0_x64__cw5n1h2txyewy

    MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_1000.25290.1010.0_x64__cw5n1h2txyewy

    MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_1000.25295.1000.0_x64__cw5n1h2txyewy

Also, check the errors in Event Viewer, it logs an error every time you click on the + New button.

These 2 commands on P.S. fix the problem and eliminate the duplicate with the old version 25290.1010. 👍

    Get-AppxPackage MicrosoftWindows.Client.Core -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

    Get-AppxPackage MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage
