Snipping Tool issues with Build 25295
Split from this thread.
Sure did. Tried also repair and reset.
It didn't help.
Would be nice to be able to install older versions in cases like this.
Hi Sibro,
I solved the Snipping Tool problem by restoring 25284 and then upgrading to 25295 directly, skipping 25290.1000 and 25290.1010.
Snipping tool works fine now on the same machine that was failing when it went from 25290.1010 to 25295.1000.
Go figure!
What made me suspicious was that error on DCOM 25290.1010.

2023-02-12T05:24:09+00:00 Before fixing the problem both versions were present, 25290.1010 and 25295.1000. 🤣🤷♂️
After issuing
Get-AppxPackage MicrosoftWindows.Client.Core -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage
only latest version was left.
I also noticed that the same issue exists for another App that shows both versions:
MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_1000.25290.1010.0_x64__cw5n1h2txyewy
MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_1000.25295.1000.0_x64__cw5n1h2txyewy
So, I did the same command for this duplicate App and that eliminated the duplicate old version that could have created another issue. 😉
Get-AppxPackage MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

2023-02-12T04:37:29+00:00 I just found a second system with the same bug, as the previous one it shows the error on MicrosoftWindows.Client.Core_1000.25290.1010.0_x64.
I'll fix this too the same way. 😎😉
Added recording to the original FBH report.
After fixing it it opened like this with the message in the middle of the screen:

2023-02-11T20:29:29+00:00 FIXED with the code, cheers, funny last night I tried reinstalling through the Store and looked at the code but thought re-installing would work and then started watching youtube
Well, the problem was not on the Snipping Tool App.
It was on the MicrosoftWindows.Client.Core old version 25290.1010 that was left in after the 25295 update.
That P.S. command just activated the correct one and solved the problem. 👍
Glad it worked for you too. 😉
