Charging Problem in Windows 11

His battery is dead flat so can't turn the laptop on even with the charger plugged in so installing software at this stage isn't going to happen.

That sounds like a hardware problem. The battery isn't controlled by the OS, so if the device is powered off, the battery should be able to take a charge without any drain/usage occurring.

Subsequently, the device should be able to post/boot from the charge the battery has (or at least from the steady power input when connected directly to the charger) since the initial BIOS/UEFI phase happens before the OS comes into play.

It's possible the battery of the device is defective, or the charger isn't functioning properly.

After updating the system to windows11, battery charger connected symbol is not being shown even if the charger is connected.

Can you please help in resolving the issue as we are blocked on usage of the device?

Did you try clicking the sound or Internet access

icons in the bottom right corner?

Sometimes those features are lumped together

under 1 icon.

Why would the battery icon be blocking you from

using your device?

Hi Microsoft,

I have the same issue with my brand new MSI laptop.

I upgraded to windows11 and the battery is not going up anymore.

Really disappointing, it is such a straight forward use case.

Please help us out.

Hence even the 30 sec hold the power button in may also not work and it may require a jump start by a PC repair professional. Once it has some charge then the 30 sec hold should then work - I have done this a number of times with different Lenovos.
