VPN Client Support

The info page for the new Samsung RT tablet - the ATIV tab - says:

Enterprise Solutions (upon request): Exchange ActiveSync, On-Device Encryption, Cisco VPN (Virtual Private Network), Juniper Junos Pulse VPN, EAS

But the Junos Pulse client is not in the Windows Store - so either Samsung has some exclusive deal with Juniper, or this is a "coming soon" feature.

I'd like an answer. As much as I love the Surface hardware, if I cannot get the last piece of the puzzle I need for work, the Pulse client, and it is available on another vendor's tablet, I'll need to think about switching.

I would really like an answer from Microsoft on this one.

And to re-confirm - the ATIV is a Windows 8 RT tablet, NOT a Windows 8 Pro tablet.

    Being a network admin, I find it sad that both Apple and Android out of the box can support modern day Cisco IPsec tunnels (which we use today) plus allow 3rd party developers (Cisco, Netmotion Wireless, etc.) to deliver even better clients.  Windows RT has missed the boat here. We going to recommend Android tablets over this OS.

    Per the link I posted, Windows RT does support Cisco IPsec VPNs out of the box, and per Cisco, at least with the ASA series, it should work with 8.4.5 and 9.0.1 software. I hope to be able to test this soon when our ASA gets update.

    The problem is the SSL VPN doesn't work without the third party client which isn't available. And I do agree that Microsoft should have worked with the VPN vendors to have these ready at or shortly after launch.

    If MicroSoft and Juniper would just get together so a Junos Pulse app could be created for RT, I would be happy with my Surface RT purchase, and be OK with the flaky and unintuitive aspects of the Surface/Windows RT operating system.  But until that happens, my Surface is pretty much only useful when I am at work, and can connect directly to my work network without the need for VPN connection.  So close to being satisfied...yet so far.

    There is no such thing as "Microsoft Surface RT running Windows 8." Microsoft Surface Pro runs Windows 8. Microsoft Surface RT runs Windows RT and is the basis for this thread.

    I know that of course. But in light of some confusion on 8 vs RT and how some people actually refer to Windows RT as Windows 8 RT, my conclusion is that by saying "Microsoft Surface RT running Windows 8" the Cisco tech must be referring to Windows RT and not Windows 8 Pro. Not that it really matters, as I'm pretty sure the built-in Microsoft VPN client is the same on 8 and RT.
