Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter with Surface Pro 3 Resolution Problem

I guess a lot of people are having this problem.

I cannot get my MWDA to go above 1366x768 for any circumstances.  I tried everything on this 4 page article now and still stuck to 1366x768.  I have i5 256gb sp3 and am using Logitech m557 bt mouse.

something I noticed however was even if I disabled the bt I still could use the pen... I assume that it dosent really turn it off from the slider in PC settings. how did you guys do it where it actually turned off.

5 ghz dosent change anything either. 

on a side note I had to contact Microsoft support for about 50 mins to get it to connect the first time at all!

restarted the SP3 twice and the adapter 3 times. finally after all that time it randomly appeared in the searching for devices page.  failed to connect twice.  last time it connected and has worked great for every other time to connect.

Looks like a software patch is in order.

that makes sense, actually based on the detailed info I've received on this

issue. I'll publish a Wiki article soon about this.

I don't have access to the router at the moment and don't really want to mess with it anyway, so here's something else that I tried.

I disconnected from the Wi-Fi and then connected with the MWDA and it worked at 1080p resolution. Next I reconnected to the Wi-Fi router, and to my surprise, my MWDA stayed connected and at the 1080p resolution. It seemed a bit choppy, but at least It worked.

Note that this was with the mouse flattened the whole time, but dis-connected but paired.

Makes sense. Unfortunately, when I lock it at 5GHz (using the instructions you provided), the SP3 doesn't detect the MWDA any more. I had to revert to auto.

Ugh. Ok, that will teach me to not try something myself first. To test the 2.4/5GHz scenario, you would have to reconfigure the Apple router for separate SSID's. At least for testing. You can switch back after testing.  it would be good to know whether or not you have this issue when you are explicitly connected at 5GHz.

EDIT: it may be that the MWDA only operates at 2.4 GHz, and if you use 5GHz connecting to the router, you reduce the congestion on the 2.4 band. I'm looking for more info.

Bottom line, it's interference on the 2.4 side that is causing issues.
