For anyone interested in comparison. The differences are negligible.
Surface Pro 2.5 i5 4300U 1.9 Ghz 2.5 Ghz
I am not an IT guy. Did Microsoft release a Surface Pro 2.5?
I returned my Surface Pro 2 (v. 256GB) because of the poor performance after the failed12.10.13 firmware update. I recall the SP2 I returned having a i5 4200U processor.
To my surprise, when I checked the System Properties in the Control Panel on my replacement SP2, the processor was upgraded to a i5 4300U @ 1.9Ghz. - 2.5 Ghz.
Perhaps this is old news. Can anyone explain this change or know of any other improvements? Thank you.

2014-01-10T00:35:10+00:00 Interesting theory... mine is also a lot 1344 and the last five digits are also 34453. You might be onto something here.

2014-01-09T21:36:07+00:00 I am actually wondering if the lot number is encoded into the serial number. I think it is, in the last five digits. I have had 2 surface pro 2's and the last 5 of the serial for one were 34453 for lot 1344 and 34753 for lot 1347, so it looks like all (US?) serial numbers end in 53 and the three digits before are the last three digits of the lot number.
Can anyone look at their box to confirm/disprove my theory?

2014-01-09T07:18:05+00:00 small changes? 12-17% performance boost is small along with increased security? i also recently purchased a surface pro 2 and spent a considerable amount of money, only to have microsoft basically replace/improve the same hardware i purchased 2 weeks later. what does "With any change to hardware or software, we work to ensure that the product experience remains excellent." will microsoft let me exchange my sp2 for the updated hardware?
