Surface Book 3 - external keyboard and mouse

I have a SB3 connected to a Surface Dock which has FullHD touch monitor, USB keyboard and mouse connected to it.  I have used this setup without any issues for over 2 years with Surface Laptop 1.

With the SB3 the keyboard and mouse 'stutter' meaning characters are lost or autorepeat due to missing down or up codes.  Mouse motion ceases then resumes.

I have a video of the mouse re I continuously move the mouse in a circle

I have tried plugging the mouse into one of the SB3 USB ports and get the same result.

I know others have seen this problem.  It should be easy to reproduce.  Can someone from Microsoft try this please.

This looks to be a level USB message handling problem. Note that the USB is not unloading.

A fix for this issue is now available through Windows Update. Please review the Surface Book 3 Update History page.

I can confirm that for me, the keyboard and mouse stutter that was my primary concern has been resolved with this latest update.

    Thanks.

I am not encountering any other related issues at this point.

    Hi Andrew,

I am not getting repeat characters but sometimes my typing does not appear on the screen but gets buffered then dumped.  It appears to be linked to Windows Explorer not responding.

I have 2 external screens and one sometimes stops being refreshed for s few seconds.

I have also given up trying to use sleep because it takes so long to come out of sleep.

One thing I have discovered it that there is a fan in the 13.5" base.

    Hey David,

It is all of the above, including the keyboard issues and windows explorer. My mouse also freezes and lags, and so does my external monitor. Headphones buzz from time to time. Windows Desktop Manager spikes to 100%.

Literally my surfacebook has got it all....

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Is it stuttering and losing keystrokes or is it that the keyboard stops working but then catches up?

I have the problem that Windows Explorer stops responding, especially when coming out of sleep.  Keep task manager open and see if it is that.
