I have bought a new USB 3.0 CD/DVD RW drive. When I try to use it with the Surface pro 3 it works erratically, or seems to continue to search/read the CD. I can view the files on the CD for a short time after I just connect the CD drive. But then after a
few moments it starts going crazy looking for files or something, I can hear it working erratically. And then the files can't be viewed. Then it disconnects and reconnects and keeps doing this until I unplug it and plug it back in again. And then it just repeats
what I just mentioned above.
I connect the save CD/DVD drive to an old notebook which runs windows XP and it works fine. Just won't work on my Surface. But any other external drive such as flash drive, USB HDD, USB floppy drive will work fine on the surface. I also connect this drive
to the Surface pro 3 docking station's USB 3.0 port and it works the same.
Its just a cheap chinese CD/DVD drive but I removed the drive inside the housing and its a good brand, i think Sony from memory. And it must be fine if it works on another computer. Any suggestions? I could not find much on this anywhere on the net.
