Just to confirm what others are saying.....
I bought a Surface Pro 3 a handful of months ago. I subsequently bought a portable slimline Samsung DVD writer (SE-208). My SP3 would not complete the installation or play any discs (including audio CDs); just repeated, failed attempts with a syncopated
set of pings as a backdrop.
Today I bought a 4-port powered USB 3.0 hub from Maplins, following the store manager's advice. The Samsung DVD writer works perfectly now (as a CD player).
My experience of SP3 has not been an altogether smooth journey.... although the machine is beautifully made and a lot of effort has obviously gone into Windows 10.
As a seasoned iPad power user (from week 1 of iPad 1), I'm finding the SP3 altogether more complex, with irksome quirks (like an invisible Recycle Bin.... which took hours of research online to locate).
I'm pretty sure the reason why smartphones and tablets do so well is the arcane complexity of Windows.... Moreover, I'm finding the navigation on SP3 requires a mouse, a stylus, or finely-sandpapered fingertips....
