Iexperienced this problem this morning on my Surface Pro 2.  After being connected at a coffee shop, shutting down and rebooting at work I tried to connect to the wireless connection at work and am also getting the "no connection available".  I get the same network icon and red X.

When I troubleshoot I get "The Marvell AVASTAR Wireless Composite Device adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware-related problems"

Any help greatly appreciated.

I have tried all your suggestions and when it came time to manually install the driver it would not let me. It said I already had the latest driver. So, now what?

I got the same problem, and  fixed it with following these steps:

    1.  download the marvel driver from this link - http://www.driverscape.com/download/marvell-avastar-wireless-composite-device
    2. extract it to desktop and put all the extracted files in one folder.
    3. got to device manager and  select "marvel device" and update it from the folder you created on the desktop which contains the extracted files.

    It works!!!
