There is a big issue in the recent firmware/driver update pushed to the surface book 2. The usb mouse became not really usable. There is a frequent lag/freeze happened to the mouse. Such issue was not there before the firmware update.

The mouse I tried including Logitech G703, G402, microsoft wireless mouse, etc.

Many people have discussed this now but not solution is provided and the problem cannot be solved now:

A further test can now confirm that the issue is either in the UEFI version 389.2268.769.0 or the system aggregator version 728.128.137.0.

After updated these two modules to those versions, the issue start to appear. This has been confirmed on more than one surface book 2 devices.

The previous version of the UEFI starting from 388 and aggregator version 728.77.137.0 do not have such issue. I can see at the moment, the 389 version of UEFI is not pushed anymore and the firmware/driver pack downloaded from Microsoft has the 388 version now.

But for those surface book 2 which has already got the 389 version pushed cannot revert back to the 388 version. Please fix this asap.

This solved the problem for me!

    Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56261

Download the "Surface Book 2 Drivers and Firmware" that matches you OS Build number.

To check you OS Build number, Click on the Start menu > Settings > System > About > Under "Windows specification".

My OS build number was 17763.292 so i downloaded the "SurfaceBook2_Win10_17763_1805009_0.msi"

Install it and restart your computer.

    Should solve your mouse lag/freeze.

I actually tried all these registry/power USB power suspend settings back on page 2 of this thread in early September with no luck.

Still the best "fix" for me (at least for the wired mouse lag on SB2 15) is lowering the power mode option. Strangely enough, I've found that lowering the polling rate from 1000 to 500 helped as well. Those two things made my Surface Book 2 usable, which is remarkably sad for an almost $3000 computer.

The mouse lock up only happens on the desktop. If the mouse makes it loading a game I can play it no problem........mouse is normal. Exit to the desktop and the mouse locks up. Strangest thing I've seen in my 26 years into computers.

    Hi,

We do understand where you're coming and we see your point in wanting to revert back to a previous firmware version.  Have you tried running a System Restore on your Surface device?  If not, you may also try to  Reset Your Surface to ensure that you are able to revert back, deleting all the drivers and updates that took place.

If none of these works, then you may need to do a fresh installation and create a recovery drivefor your Surface device.

Should you have any further inquiries, please do not hesitate to reply back to this thread so we could get back to you.
