I have had a Surface Book 2 for 9 months now. It drains 5-10% battery whilst switched off every day. I know this is a common complaint, yet why is it an issue on a $4000AUD laptop?
Can I return it for a refund as it does not meet my needs?

I have finally given in. I've tried all the advice in this thread (thanks for all your efforts!) and still have the same issue. This device is fundamentally flawed. I lose 8-10% of battery life overnight after a full shutdown. Not modern standby. Not sleep. Not hibernate.
I've reset the device. Have installed all the latest firmware. Nothing else installed except drivers. It's just a poor design and Microsoft have not once offered a solution. Now I'm out of warranty. Absolute dogs.

2020-06-15T22:39:04+00:00 It's been 2 years and I still have the same issues with the battery draining while the laptop is completely off. After spending $3k on this laptop, I think it's time we as a whole made Microsoft own up for their nonsense and take responsibility. I am not able to take it anywhere, on any of my business trips and ended up buying an apple ipad pro for the guaranteed battery life so I can use it during my business meetings. I am ready to serve them with a class action suit for the issues this has caused. Would anyone else like to participate?

2020-06-03T20:13:30+00:00 Hi guys. I think that the surface book is spending energy to maintain electromagnetic connection between it's tablet and keyboard.
Additionally it is monitoring when you press the docking button.
Even if it's on shutdown.
This is the main difference between conventional laptops and our ’miracle’.
The connection is not electromagnetic. The magnets in Surface Book are permanent ones. The tablet is held by a mechanical connection which is released by applying current to muscle wires (yes that's what they are called). The button I'm not sure about but there is no reason for it to be powered, it only needs to complete a circuit when pressed.
