Surface Book 2 battery drain whilst off

The battery drain on Surface Book 2 is due to the new hybrid shutdown mechanism used in these devices, which keeps the core of the operating system in RAM while the computer is turned off to provide the fast boot function. This feature, along with a new connected standby state, are new features built into surface devices.

To prevent the system from shutting down using hybrid shutdown, you can press the Shift key while selecting the shutdown option from the start menu.

Hello, if you mean to literally press and keep holding shift while clicking shutdown from the start menu I'm sorry to say that it does not work. I held shift through the clicking of the power button, clicking shut down, and I kept holding on to it until the screen turned off. This morning, 7 hours later, clipboard had 90% battery and battery 2 had 93% battery (both were at 100% when I shut down). Please let me know if I did anything wrong.

His statement isn't necessarily 'untrue'. Lithium ion batteries do drain over time. The Surface's just happen to drain unreasonably quickly, at least compared to the laptops I've used as an IT Technician. My Surface book 2 drains at a rate of 3.5% per day, which I find ridiculous. Admittedly, this isn't as bad as the creator of this thread who's losing up to 5 to 10% every day. That's simply intolerable.

In a last ditch attempt to fix it, I carried out a full reinstall after a reset. Still drains whilst off. I lost 16% in 3 days without touching the laptop.

How the heck are Microsoft getting away with this? Why have the Microsoft agents stopped replying to this thread? Most of all, why does a "premium" laptop like this have such a design flaw that hasn't been fixed?

As long as people keep supporting the Surfaces Microsoft will not fix the issue. Its a design or engineering flaw. Good luck but I doubt the future Surface Laptops will have this issue resolved its been over 5 years and not a fix in sight.

But, what about a 4-5% drain (or even more) after just one or two days?

(With the Surface completely shut down, of course)

I got the same problem with my SB2.

After a few weeks dont touch it, today i open it and see the battery is down to 24%. 

Some of you might be mistaken, but all laptops drain regardless of usage after a few weeks. That is just the nature of lithium ion batteries...
